In addition to the established waters at Worcester County Council Headquarters at County Hall, Worcester, where smaller or scale boats can easily be operated, the club also enjoys the use of the University of Worcester’s Lakeside Centre near Hallow, on the outskirts of Worcester where members have access to three lakes, enabling the bigger boats to stretch their legs!

Sailing takes place on Sunday mornings at Country Hall, and on some Sundays from spring to the end of autumn at the large water sports Lakeside Centre (see DSMBC website for forthcoming dates). During the summer months additional sailing time is provided on Thursday evenings at County Hall.

The club benefits from a wide ranging membership that participate in all aspects of model boating, from regular club meetings to manning club stands at model boat shows, and the club is a regular exhibitor at the annual Warwick Model Boat Show. Visit any Sunday morning and you will generally see twenty or more boats of all descriptions on the water.

Like many others, the club does not permit internal combustion engines, however, all other types of boat are sailed, with our fair share of ‘unusual’ subjects amongst members boats.

Prior to Covid 19, the club regularly held social events, skittles evenings, BBQs, trips to boat shows and events around the country, an annual ‘Plank Race’ and even a railway evening, where members get to try their hand at driving a steam railway engine, albeit on dry land! Hopefully normal activities will recommence soon.

The DSMBC is a very happy and friendly club and it’s a bad sailing day if you can’t hear laughter ringing out around the pool. We are also lucky that we still have a few of our founding fathers playing an active role within the club, who are more than able to put the newer members of the club on the right path to success.
